Videoconferencing in Education - Making Geography History!

Videoconferencing has been used by educational establishments for many years, with links being forged across towns, cities, countries and continents, opening up a world of opportunity and exploration for students of all ages.

The ability to ‘virtually’ visit schools and attractions in other countries and learn about different cultures has opened the eyes of students the world over, helping to create the global village that we always knew would become a reality.

Direct Visual has helped masses of schools, colleges and universities extend their use of videoconferencing by offering advice and guidance and ensuring that our solutions suit the purpose they were intended for.

Our work with schools has gained us UK wide acclaim from Local Authorities, a selection of learning grids, JANET(UK) and the Welsh Video Network, and have been given preferred supplier status by the South East Grid for Learning.

We have also been awarded a, European Union approved, National Framework Agreement by JANET(UK), giving us preferred solutions provider status for videoconferencing products, videoconferencing network solutions and control systems to the Education sector. This followed a lengthy selection process. Click here to read more.

We have put a lot of time and resource into helping video communications in Education, because we believe in the technology, and we believe that it will improve the learning potential of the children of Great Britain.

We have worked with content providers, we’re currently the videoconferencing sponsor of the National Space Centre, and have won awards for our work in Videoconferencing in Education, and continue to work hard to make sure we’re more than just a supplier. We are a partner!

Videoconferencing technology
is often used for distance
learning in the following ways:

Students can take classes not
offered at their school,
such as law or foreign
language courses.

Educational establishments can
offer classes during “off-hours”
and to students who cannot
attend traditional classes.

Educational establishments can
link up with businesses to offer
employee training or
certification.

Teachers can “team teach”
with remote teachers, sharing
subject matter expertise
or a unique approach to
a topic.
