TANDBERG Award for Excellence Presented to West Yorkshire Business

Mike Phillips Recieves the Award in Barcelona

September 2008: Elland based, Direct Visual has been chosen as the number one provider of TANDBERG videoconferencing products in Western Europe at a glittering awards ceremony in Barcelona.

TANDBERG are the world’s leading manufacturer of video communications, and awarded West Yorkshire’s Direct Visual the ‘Award for Excellence 2008’ based upon a number of criteria.

As well as looking at the financial aspects of their dealings with TANDBERG, Direct Visual were also judged on their expansion and growth, their knowledge and qualifications in the support and maintenance of TANDBERG videoconferencing systems, their determination to improving the end-user experience and their commitment to building a future plan unified with that of TANDBERG.

Direct Visual, founded in 1996 in Skelmanthorpe, Huddersfield, have been one of the leading brands in the supply and support of videoconferencing technology in the UK, and have now been instated as one of the leading lights in Europe too.

Mike Phillips, Direct Visual Chairman, was in Barcelona to collect the award; “It is a vindication to our team that we are doing the right things, not only when it comes to selling, but also supporting our customers and in ensuring the future of this industry.”

“We have always believed in what we are doing, and it’s nice to see that our partners also believe in what we are trying to achieve. We will continue to keep doing the right things and ensure that we remain the UK and Western Europe’s number one.”

Direct Visual was selected from an array of TANDBERG partners across Western Europe by a panel of three members of the TANDBERG team; Fredrick Halvorsen, TANDBERG CEO, Geir Olsen, President EMEA and Wayne Stevens, Director, Partners and Alliances, EMEA.

The award comes having achieved their highest ever turnover, in 2007/08, and having been awarded the biggest videoconferencing contract in the history of the industry in the UK, a £2 million pound deal to provide every higher and further education establishment in Wales with videoconferencing suites.

TANDBERG’s Simon Egan, VP of Western Europe, was delighted that Direct Visual won the award; “Direct Visual’s close relationship with TANDBERG for over 10 years, as well as their investment and expertise in visual communications, has allowed them to be successful in winning and effectively delivering a number of very significant customer projects. They truly deserve this Award for Excellence.”

Direct Visual was one of the first UK Tandberg Partners. An early adopter of video over IP, they were a pioneer of integration of VoIP solutions with video, for example, Cisco call manager. Their skill set has enabled them to become a leading video supplier into the UK.
