Direct Visual Appoints Technical Director
Glen Sykes joins the Board
Direct Visual announced at its Annual Awards, which took place at the Huddersfield George Hotel on the 30th April 2009, to the company that currently employs 61 staff, that it had promoted Glen Sykes to Technical Director.
The company has operated with two Directors, Mike Phillips and Marina Shaw, who own the business and they were delighted to make the announcement of Glen’s new role following over a decade with the company, the first time a member of staff has been promoted to this position.
As a result of this appointment, former Head of Technical Support, Darren Goulden will take over Glen’s role as the Technical Services Manager.
Glen is a highly respected figure within the videoconferencing industry having worked extensively to develop products and customer solutions with the likes of TANDBERG, Codian (now part of the TANDBERG Group) and Cisco.
Having been recognised in the AV Award Technical Person of the Year category 2004, Glen has since gone from strength to strength helping Direct Visual reach the top of their market whilst achieving industry recognition as a “guru”.
Glen is delighted to accept the position, and hopes to help the business boom even further. “It is with great pleasure that I accepted the job, this appointment puts me in a position to help move this business to fifty million over the next few years”

Darren Goulden has been with Direct Visual for five years, moving up through the business from a technical support role initially, and has been the Head of Customer Support for the last three years.
Stepping into Glen Sykes’ shoes is not going to be an easy task, but with a wealth of knowledge and experience Darren is expected to make the position his own, and to be a great success.
Darren commented; “I am very pleased to accept the position, and am excited about the opportunities this position will offer me. Direct Visual has been a great team to be a part of, and now I will be part of the leadership team ensuring the business delivers on the challenging growth targets set by the board.”
Other changes around the business include, In our Business Development Team, Richard Middleton who has become the Head of Education Sector, Daniel Shaw has become Head of Health & Government Sector and Laura Brook from our Installation Services Team has become the Head of Project Management.
