| NAAIDT 2007 - A success!
The NAAIDT Conference 2007 (National Association of Advisors & Inspectors in Design and Technology), was supported this year by Direct Visual, the UK’s leading Video Communication Specialist and world leaders in videoconferencing, Polycom. The three day event took place at the Marriot hotel, Gosforth Park, Newcastle.
Entitled “Building the future”, more than 120 delegates attended the event to hear about and discuss the transformation of current and future teaching and learning environments for design and technology. Delegates were given a deeper insight into the Building Schools for the Future programme, with advice on how to give schools the quality of support required when they have the opportunity to re-furbish, remodel or design a completely new subject facility.
Durham Local Education Authority chaired the event and Direct Visual was asked to provide sponsorship through the supply of equipment and expertise to manage a video link from the hotel in Newcastle to Dyson in Malmesbury, Wiltshire. Direct Visual provided a Polycom HDX 9001 and set up the IP link, in order for the conference to take place. This was managed by staff operating Direct Visual’s MCU service in Elland, West Yorkshire. A successful connection lasting for 20 minutes allowed delegates to hear how senior designers from Dyson vacuums’ viewed their vision for design and technology. Ben Morse, the Principal Engineer and Sarah Liddell, Senior Design Engineer for Dyson joined the conference via video to answer questions raised by the delegates.
Using a state of the art, Codian IPVCR streaming and archiving solution, experts at Direct Visual recorded the videoconference, allowing it to be played back and viewed by others who were unable to attend the event in person.
